Equalization Rate

Equalization rate, or ratio, is used by the NH Department of Revenue Administration (DRA) to calculate a municipality's equalized assessed valuation. If the equalization rate is 100 the Town's assessed property is at 100% of market value. An equalization ratio of less than 100 means that the total market value is greater than the Town's assessed value. An equalization ratio of greater than 100 means the Town's assessed value is greater than the total market value. The equalization rate is determined by the DRA for each town every year and is typically made public early the following year.
